Located just 10 kilometers (6 miles) northest of San José and perched on the edge of the Braulio Carrillo National Park is the charming and friendly town of Coronado.

Coronado is found in a fairly rural part of Costa Rica full of dairy farms, coffee plantations and beatiful mountains great for hiking. Nature lovers will revel in Coronado's natural surroundings, but there's much more to offer.

Coronado's gorgeous gothic-style cathedral and the numerous cafes, restaurants and markets all make for a lovely and lively cityscape. Plus, its proximity to Costa Rica’s capital means all the buzz and hustle of city live is just a quick busride away.

The Spanish Language School

Located on the site of a former farm, the school's property is a wonderful display of regional flora thanks to 100 different plants and trees located throughout 5,000 square meters of tropical gardens.

Facilities include: nicely decorated classrooms, a reception area, a multimedia lab with 6 computers and internet access, a resource library, cable TV, games, a tourism desk and booking for local services.

Accommodations

Families

Cultural Activities

Each week there are 2-3 cultural activities held in the library, and once each month we will invite you to celebrate "cultural week," complete with special events. Some activities are free, but the average price for an afternoon excusion is $30, while weekend excusions can cost between $145 and $185.

The most common activities include: Latin dance classes, trips to local beaches, horseback-riding, sunset cruises, literature or handicraft workshops, kayaking/ snorkeling, visits to nearby volcanoes, visits to national parks, jungle boat trips, waterfall rappelling, white water rafting, and more!
