When you arrive at a Kaplan Education Center, you will complete a Diagnostic Profile to allow teachers to design your personalized study plan. You will also receive periodic evaluations as a means of supervising your progress.
General English
This course will cover the fundamental language skills: grammar, reading, writing, listening comprehension and speaking. You may choose between 20, 22 or 30 lessons per week.
Business English
This course allows professionals in their sector to improve their English skills for work. The program includes 22 hours per week divided into 15 hours of business English, 5 hours of pratical work and 2 hours of supervised individual study.
A minimum TOEFL score of 173 points is necessary to attend this program.
TOEFL Preparation Course
All of those students whose native language is not English should take the TOEFL to measure and show their English level for univerisities or professional opportunities.
The program consists of 25 hours of class per week, of which 15 are theoretical and 10 are lab time/ practice tests.
GMAT Preparation Course
If you would like to attend a Business School or MBA pogram, the GMAT is almost always a requisite for applying. This program will help you with strategies to take these computerized exams in speaking, writing and mathematics.
The program of 25 hours per week includes includes theory, lab time and individualized study.
GRE Preparation Course
The majority of graduate programs in the U.S. (not related to law, business and medicine) require the GRE. This course consists of 25 hours per week which will provide you the necessary strategies to take the computerized exam for the verbal, analytic and cuantative sections.
SAT Preparation Course
This course is designed for students that wish to attend an American university and need to pass the entry exam. A score of 193 points on the TOEFL is necessary to do this. The course includes 22 hours per week: 12 group classes and 10 supervised.
USMLE I, II, & III CSA Preparation
This course is specially designed for international doctors who wish to practice medicine in the United States.
Thanks to Kaplan's advanced technological services, you can put your knowledge from class to use in special computer labs.
All courses include access to an interactive laboratory where you'll be able to use the English Language Learning Instruction System (ELLIS), a modern system that evaluates and calculates your English level and challenges you with progressively more difficult exercises as your level improves.
University Residences
Here, you'll have the option of staying in a double or individual room with half board or kitchen access (varies depending on the educational center).
Shared Apartments
Located in centric areas, these apartments consist of double or individual rooms with common areas shared with other students, including fully equipped kitchens, living/dining room and bathroom.
Families
Kaplan selects its host families based upon a combination of location and, most importantly, their treatment of students. Each student will have his/her own room and the meal plan varies depending on the destination you choose.
