Sao Paulo is the largest city in South America and one of the largest in the world. It's considered to be one of the most important financial hubs of Latin America. It is Brazil's industrial center, responsible for 30% of the country's annual GDP and is home to the central offices of the majority of the national and international companies. The strong industrial and cultural development of San Paulo provides the middle class with the best level of education in Brazil.
Sao Paulo can be an intimidating place, but if you like big cities it offers a wide range of attractions and a lively nightlife. Amongst its attractions are the Teatro Municipal (City Theater), the Niemeyer Copan building, the MASP (Art Museum of Sao Paulo) and the school courtyard.
Maceio, the capital of Alagoas state in northeastern Brazil, is a safe, modern and relaxed city with some of South America's very best beaches.
The Praia de Pajuçara is the main attraction, with natural pools that form when the tide is low. The ocean and the lakes dominate the landscape and welcome tourists from around the world.
The climate is tropical, with an average temperature of 25ÂșC and two seasons: summer and rainy summer.
Maceio also has a wide range of places of interest worth a visit, such as Penedo and Marechal Deodoro (colonial cities) boasting unique architecture, not to mention museums.
Favorite destinations for outdoor excursions are: Pontal do Peba (shrimp-fishing area), Murici (Atlantic forest) and Barra de Santo Antonio (manatee reserve).
The school in Sao Paulo is located in an upper class residential neighborhood, Jardins, and very close the Avenida Paulista, the financial center of the city. The school has a room with free Internet access and a refreshments room. In the school's immediate surroundings you will find restaurants, bars and clubs, along with parks and other interesting places.
The school in Maceio is located in the Ponta Verde district, a modern residential area located just four blocks from the beach and near restaurants, gyms, businesses, etc.

Host Families
Staying with a host family is the most frequent accommodation option. The academic centers choose each family keeping in mind the profile of each student, and guarantees the quality of the service that they offer.
The host families have proven experience and are always available to help students on a day to day basis. From a cultural immersion standpoint, staying with a host family is the best option. It's an option that should be taken advantage of.

We believe that a Portuguese course should be complemented by social and cultural activities to give students the opportunity not only to practice their acquired knowledge but also to maximize their contact with Brazil's culture.
The schools boast an interesting cultural program which includes visits to theaters, concerts, restaurants, beaches as well as to other events, such asnational festivals, sporting events and clubs. Such activities are organized at least twice a week.
