Berlin's history is pretty complicated. Following a tumultuous past marked by violent wars and concentration camps, Berlin has put in a lot of effort during recent years into making itself over as a cool, modern and cosmopolitan city. Life in Berlin is indeed quite different from just a few decades ago, as today we see an innovative city that has undergone a major facelift.
Berlin is known for its alternative lifestyles and, for this very reason, the city serves as a hub of creativity for Europe's young generation. In fact, each year, thousands of young people set foot in Berlin to participate in some of the city's myriad cultural and artistic events designed with them in mind!

Our students will have the opportunity to take a German course and stay in a recently opened residence. Our residence is situated in one of the most central zones of the city, Berlin-Mitte is only 15 minutes walk from the Brandenburg Gate.
Following a language test upon their arrival, students are grouped according to their level of German.
The course structure includes 20 lessons of general German each week in groups of no more than 15 students.
Students who want a more intensive course also have the option of taking 24 lessons per week.
Each lesson is equivalent to 45 actual minutes of class.
Students will stay in rooms of four with bathrooms on a full board basis (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The rooms are all located on the same floor and are divided by gender. The residence has a dining room in the basement where they prepare three main meals while on the top floor there is a modern cafeteria for activities after dinner.
There is the option of an individual room with a bathroom.
Students have activities included during the afternoons and evenings as well as a full day excursion each week which usually takes place on Saturday.
The activity program focuses on getting to know the city though visits to sites such as the Sony Center, the Berlin Wall, the Brandenburg Gate and more. We will also visit the city of Potsdam and the former concentration camp at Sachsenhausen.
