About Edinburgh

Land of legends, capital city of Scotland, constantly covered by the mysterious mist of the Highlands, today Edinburgh is synonymous with ancient castles and buildings, spectacular landscapes and exciting cultural celebrations.

Academic Center

The summer course takes place at the University of Edinburgh, a prestigiuos institution founded in 1583 during the reign of James VI. Today it is one of the most important universities in the United Kingdom, for both its academics as well as for its research contributions.

The Univeristy of Edinburgh is ranked fourth in the United Kingdom behind the Universitie of London, Cambridge and Oxford.

Course Characteristics

The course program consists of 15 hours of English taught in groups of international students. Classes are held during the mornings, and during the afternoons students can take advantage of a cultural program of activities accompanied by the team of professors.

Accommodation

Students can elect to stay right on the university campus with either partial or full-board, or to stay in an individual room with a host family that provides breakfast and 4 weekly dinners.

In the residence, students may choose the private bathroom option.

Activities & Sports

Each afternoon from Monday to Friday there is a schedule of activities, including:

• Visits to historical sites like: the Castle, Holyrood Palace, The Whisky Heritage Centre...
• Visits to galleries and museums: the National Gallery, the National Museum of Scotland, the Botanical Gardens...
  
• Tours of: Arthur's Seat, the New City, the Water of Leith...
• One partial-day excursion per week to towns like North Berwick and Linlithgow...
• Sports activities like: swimming, basketball...
• On Saturdays, there will be full-day excursions to cities such as: St. Andrew's, Glasgow, Loch Lomond...

Counselors

Students will accompanied at all times by native English-speaking counselors.
