About Bandon

Given its small size, Bandon is the ideal location for youngsters to take an English language course. The community, intimate and welcoming, is always interested in meeting visitors!

The goal of English program is for our young students to enjoy their stay alongside other international students from around the world. They will be supervised 24 hours a day by our highly qualified staff of Irish and Spanish counselors who help to ensure that students learn and have fun at the same time!

Academic Center

The summer English language course in Bandon, Ireland takes place in one of Ireland's most prestigious boarding schools. Located only 32 kilometers from the city of Cork, the school is set in 30 hectares of green space. While the school was founded in 1641, it boasts the most modern and up-to-date facilities. It is situated just a quick walk from the small town of Bandon (population 6,000), close to the beach and southwest of Cork.

The school's excellent facilities include: a library, a reading area, a television room, a billiards room, a ping-pong room, a fully-equipped gymnasium, a football field, and courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball, hockey and rugby.

English Language Course Characteristics

The program consists of 15 English language lessons each week taught by qualified, experienced and native English-speaking professors.

Upon completion of the program, students will receive a report card outlining the students attitude and improvements along with feed-back reports from the student's professor and counselor.

Accommodations

Students opting to stay in the school residence will reside in shared rooms with bathrooms located in the hallways. The residence consists of two separate buildings (one for boys and one for girls), and students are further divided into similar age groups. Counselors will provide 24- hour supervision.

Students can also elect to stay with an Irish host family.

Activities & Sports

Each afternoon, students can take part in scheduled athletic and cultural activities. After dinner, there will be fun leisure activities for students.

Excursions

Along with sports and cultural activities right on campus, students will go on a full-day excursion on Saturday and a partial-day excursion on Sunday.

Typical full-day excursion destinations include:

• Cork, the capital city of county Cork
• Killarney, the capital city of county Kerry
• Fota's natural park

Typical partial-day excursion destinations include:

• Cobh, the last port from which cruise-ship Titanic departed
• Kinsale, a pretty coastal city, and Charlesfort
• The beaches of Inchydoney and Garretstown.

For all excursions, the costs of entry to various attractions as well as private transportation is included.

Counselors

Students will be accompanied and supervised 24-hours a day both by our Spanish counselors as well as by native English-speaking counselors.
